Hawthorne Playground, a City of Philadelphia playground, is situated directly across the street from the artist's studio. Each day Rose can see kids playing, homeless resting, teenagers being teenagers, and skate boarders skating in the defunct basketball court. It is an active playground, much used but also in need of care and repair. This body of work honors the beauty that exists in the park, appreciates the work of the minimal but mighty staff and calls attention to the textures of disrepair.
